Plan of Attack

There is a lot of wine out there and I needed some time to think about how I’m going to tackle it.  From the little research I’ve done so far, it seems like French regions set the standard.  People who know a lot more then me seem to reference French wines when making comparisons to New World regions.   It makes sense to start there.

My initial thoughts:

  • Bordeaux
  • Rhone
  • Burgundy
  • Beaujolais
  • Provence

Since I’m still a newbie at this, I’m not going to spend a lot of money on wines.  My max will be $20 and the bottle must be purchased at a regular shop (liquor store, grocery store, etc).  No special orders or dedicated wine shops at this point.  My baseline will be set by 3 bottles from each region listed above.  I will then figure out where to branch out from there.  I’m leaving my timeline open because that will be a lot of wine that I will have to sample.

Wish me luck as I will be sampling a lot of wine over the foreseeable future.

Cheers!
